Earth Day Information Center Launches Free Earth Day Interview Locator Service; Over 140 Scientists, Economists, and Public Policy Experts in 27 Fields of Expertise Available



The Earth Day Information Center launched the "Earth Day Interview Locator Service" today to provide assistance to journalists seeking environmental experts for Earth Day interviews. This free service offers access to over 140 scientists, economists and public policy experts in 27 environmental fields.

Among the experts in the Earth Day Information Center's extensive database are:

* Dr. Sallie Baliunas: Staff Astrophysicist with the Harvard Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory and recipient of the American Astronomical Society's prestigious Newton Lacey Pierce Prize, who specializes in global climate change and global warming.

* Dr. Bernard Cohen: Professor of Physics and Radiation Health at the University of Pittsburgh, former Director of the Scaife Nuclear Laboratory and recipient of the Health Physics Society's Distinguished Scientific Award, who specializes in nuclear power risks, radiation, radon and waste disposal management.

* Dr. William Burke: Professor of Law and Marine Affairs at the University of Washington who specializes in such issues as driftnet fishing, whaling issues, Law of the Sea Treaty and fisheries management.

* Dr. Murray Weidenbaum: Chairman of the Center for the Study of American Business and former Chairman of the President's Council of Economic Advisors during the Reagan Administration who specializes in the economic impact of environmental regulations.

* The Honorable Donald Hodel: Former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Interior and former Secretary of the U.S. Department of Energy who specializes in energy and land issues.

The Earth Day Information Center's Earth Day Interview Locator Service has 136 additional experts available in such topic areas of agriculture, wilderness issues, animal research and animal rights, environmental climate change, forest health, fisheries, population issues, water issues and more.
