According to the Washington Post, President Obama has gotten personally involved in “plans for the use of alternative energy” at a Philadelphia football stadium – hardly a presidential-level responsibility (if a government responsibility at all).
It has been said that Jimmy Carter, who wasted presidential time by checking the math in federal budget documents and personally scheduling the use of the White House tennis courts, hobbled the success of his own Administration. This Post story makes me wonder if, on at least some occasions, President Obama has been making the same mistake.
Obama’s predilection for vacations could be an argument against the notion that he’s a micro-manager, but excessive time off and a tendency to manage trivia both are hallmarks of a manager who is in over his head.
