6/25 Outrage of the Day

WattsUpWithThat LogoEx-Senator Tim Wirth (D-CO), the Al Gore of his day (there’s something no sane man would want as his epitaph!), calls for “going after” global warming theory “deniers”:

Third, we have to, I think, again as I’ve suggested before, undertake an aggressive program to go after those who are among the deniers, who are putting out these mistruths, and really call them for what they’re doing and make a battle out of it. They’ve had pretty much of a free ride so far, and that time has got to stop.

The “denier” term is meant to equate people unconvinced that humans significantly affect climate with malevolent Holocaust deniers. It an established propaganda tool intended to establish skepticism about the global warming theory as a moral fault (which should always be opposed) rather than a difference of opinion (which encourages further inquiry).

Wirth is attacking people for exercising their First Amendment right to express disagreement with him on a science issue. As a Senator, he once took an oath to uphold the Constitution. Did he change his mind or was he committing perjury back then?

Mr. Wirth is a very confused man. Do read the excellent Wirth takedown and expose by meteorologist Anthony Watts on Watts Up With That? Anthony Watts puts Mr. Wirth in his place very nicely by revealing how he tricked the news media with a manipulated Senate hearing and by showing just how goofy (and self-involved) Wirth’s “science” really is.
