Project 21 Ambassador Andre Barnes is the HBCU Engagement Director for NumbersUSA. Andre goes across the country to meet with students and community members to have civil discussions about immigration. Andre has been to the areas most impacted by mass immigration such as the Texas Border, Chicago, and New York. He regularly meets with grassroots organizations to foster new relationships to push back against open border and sanctuary city policies.
Barnes obtained a Bachelor of Arts in African American Studies from the University of Virginia and a Master in Education with a concentration on early childhood from Moreland University.
In this present role, Barnes is expanding an existing NumbersUSA initiative that addresses the negative impact periods of high immigration have historically had and continue to have on black citizens of the United States, notably the 88% of which are descendants of slaves.
Barnes previously served as an admissions advisor for Moreland University, Arizona College of Nursing, and My Computer Career. He also served as a janitorial staff manager in Alexandria, VA and was a high school mentor with the University of Virginia College Guides. He is the father of four and lives in Woodbridge, VA with his wife of 13 years. Andre is a big fan of basketball and football, and loves spending time with friends and family.
