Born in Jamaica, West Indies, Scherie migrated to New York City with her family at the age of nine. Growing up in Southeast Queens, she learned the values of hard work, education and community strength. She was the captain of her high school gymnastics team and graduated with an outstanding community service award from the Law, Government and Community Service High School. She earned a Bachelor of Science in Broadcast Journalism from Brooklyn College and also holds an Associate Degree in Micro Computer Business Systems, specializing in technology and coding.

Since 2013, Scherie has held several leadership positions within the New York State Republican Party, including serving as press secretary and political spokesperson for the Queens County GOP and its Chairman, former Congressman Robert Turner. In addition, she worked for a NYC Councilmember, helping residents and local businesses navigate government services and resources.

On the national stage, Scherie was a New York Alternate Delegate to the 2016 Republican National Convention for Presidential designee Donald J. Trump. In 2017, she formed the New York State Caribbean Commission on H.R. 4939 (United States–Caribbean Strategic Engagement Act of 2016). In partnership with the Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS), the Commission wrote and submitted a companion report of policy recommendations, which was incorporated, in part, into the framework presented to the White House by the U.S. Department of State in July 2017.

Scherie currently serves as the State Committeewoman for the New York State Republican Party representing the 29th Assembly District; she is an executive committee member of the Queens County Republican Party and a coalition member for Black Americans for Trump. Scherie is a proud member and Vice President of American Legion Unit 483. She also manages federal, state and municipal races while leading several initiatives in support of the America-First movement.

With a tenured background in communications, government, political consulting, campaign management and community building, Scherie is a highly regarded public speaker on politics, public policy and leadership. Above all, Scherie is a proud mother of three who dedicates her time to important issues affecting her community, working to make it—and America—a better place.
