Vincent Mathews

Bishop Vincent E. Mathews, Jr., a Project 21 ambassador, leads the Global Kingdom Network (GKN), a cross-denominational network of churches focused on reflecting the love and power of the Gospel through restoring lives, building families and serving communities.

Bishop Mathews and his family served in South Africa for 12 years, where he pastored Tabernacle Church in Johannesburg, growing the congregation from 6 to over 2,350 members. The church established 32 ministries, including Tabernacle Christian Academy.

Upon returning to the U.S., Bishop Mathews founded Tabernacle Church in Southaven, Mississippi, in 2020. The church has expanded to over 50 ministries, including Washington Tabernacle Christian Academy. Bishop Mathews previously served as President of the Church of God in Christ World Missions, overseeing humanitarian work, disaster relief and church planting in 110 countries. 

Bishop Mathews is a devoted husband to Sharon Denise Mathews and father to their 11 children. Residing in Mississippi, Bishop Mathews holds degrees from Wayne State University (B.A.), University of Illinois (M.A.), and North Carolina College of Theology (Doctor of Theology). As a Fulbright Fellow, he studied African Language (Swahili) at the University of Dar es Salaam in Tanzania.

Bishop Mathews’ ultimate goal is to hear God say, “Well done, my good and faithful servant.”
