Starbucks Shutdown Prompts Concern That \u201cRacial Bias Training\u201d Programs Actually Violate Civil Rights<\/strong><\/p>\n Non-Minority and Male Employees Could Be Disadvantaged<\/strong><\/p>\n Washington, DC \u2013 With the Starbucks chain of coffeehouses planning to shutter<\/a> over 8,000 locations on May 29 to train approximately 175,000 members of its workforce on issues of alleged \u201cimplicit bias\u201d and \u201cpromot[ing] conscious inclusion,\u201d the Project 21<\/a> black leadership network has asked the federal government to look into whether blanket assumptions by an employer in such situations constitute a violation of employees\u2019 civil rights.<\/p>\n
