{"id":3684,"date":"2010-12-31T15:16:39","date_gmt":"2010-12-31T19:16:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/ncdata.wpengine.com\/?p=3684"},"modified":"2017-10-04T15:11:14","modified_gmt":"2017-10-04T19:11:14","slug":"blog-three-responses-to-the-new-york-union-scandal","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/ncppr\/2010\/12\/31\/blog-three-responses-to-the-new-york-union-scandal\/","title":{"rendered":"Three Responses to the New York Union Scandal"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"journal-entry-navigation\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"single-journal-entry-wrapper\">\n<div class=\"journal-entry-wrapper post-text authored-by-conservativeblog category-labor-unions category-scandals\">\n<div id=\"item9893739\" class=\"journal-entry\">\n<div class=\"journal-entry-text\">\n<div class=\"body\">\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"http:\/\/www.conservativeblog.org\/resource\/UnionLabelSkullWhiteCaption.jpg?fileId=10025197\" alt=\"Look for the union label\" width=\"180\" height=\"185\" border=\"0\" \/>On the heels of confessions by New York City unionized sanitation workers that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mygovcost.org\/new-york-city-government-employee-unions-snarl-blizzard-cleanup-to-protest-budget-cuts\/\">they did in fact intentionally refuse to plow snow in accordance with their responsibilities<\/a>, and knowing full well that ambulances and fire rescue personnel would be affected by their non-work, I have three recommendations for the prevention of future such tragedies for the city and, where applicable, the state of New York:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>1) Fire everyone who participated in the slowdown, with the possible exception of some of those who &#8216;fessed up early and expressed sincere remorse.2) Prosecute the leaders and any workers whose refusal to fulfill their duties contributed directly or indirectly to death or serious injuries.<\/p>\n<p>3) Learn your lesson: Refuse to recognize public employee unions now and forevermore.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And special bonus recommendation: Our federal government and every state and locality should learn from this and deauthorize all their workforce unions before more people needlessly die.
