It never is for the left.<\/p>\n<p>Kamala Harris quickly\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonexaminer.com\/news\/kamala-harris-police-reform-george-floyd-chauvin-congress\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a><\/strong> for all-encompassing police reform despite <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/senate\/544928-democrats-justified-filibustering-gop-says-schumer\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">filibustering<\/a><\/strong> proposed reforms as a senator. She added to the leftist campaign against cops\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.huffpost.com\/entry\/trevor-noah-police-bad-apples_n_6077d3dfe4b0e554e81b4dcc\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">typified<\/a> by supposed comedian Trevor Noah.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShame on these individuals for condemning law enforcement in that environment,\u201d said <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/project-21\/\">Project 21<\/a><\/strong> Co-Chairman <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/ncppr\/staff\/horace-cooper\/\">Horace Cooper<\/a><\/strong> on the Fox Business Network program \u201cThe Evening Edit with Elizabeth MacDonald.&#8221; In an interview that aired just before the jury reached its decision, Horace warned against attacks on the institutions of law enforcement, suggesting\u00a0they will result in \u201cgenerational consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>To make his case, he recounted that even a civil rights icon can be the target of rampant crime:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/topics\/black-history\/rosa-parks\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rosa Parks<\/a><\/strong> was a civil rights leader, but she left Alabama and she moved to Michigan.<\/p>\n<p>The media failed to report that her home was <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.upi.com\/Archives\/1994\/08\/31\/Suspect-arrested-in-Rosa-Parks-assault\/8833778305600\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">broken into<\/a><\/strong> in the late 1990s when we were looking away from crime enforcement. And she was beat to the point of hospitalization.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Bringing the plight she faced into the present day, Horace asked:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>How many Americans today are going to have to be the new Rosa Parks \u2013 living in these communities where they live in fear?<\/p>\n<p>That is the reason black Americans disproportionately say we want <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/news\/politics\/2021\/03\/07\/usa-today-ipsos-poll-just-18-support-defund-police-movement\/4599232001\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">higher<\/a><\/strong>\u2026 law enforcement presence, and we want better funding levels for law enforcement.<\/p>\n<p>The media narrative \u2013 to the contrary \u2013 is a lie, and it does not reflect where black America actually is.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<div class=\"responsive-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Black Americans are Committed to Law Enforcement, says Project 21&#039;s Horace Cooper\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/nVBaOHdo_u8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>Asked about the \u201cmisconceptions\u2026 in this debate\u201d over the role of law enforcement in America right now, Horace told MacDonald there are two main areas of concern:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>One, there is truly no justification for the claim that to be a black man in America means that you\u2019re being targeted by law enforcement. The evidence does not bear that out. The number of shootings does not bear that out. In fact, you\u2019re more likely to be shot if you\u2019re white than if you\u2019re black\u2026<\/p>\n<p>But the second lie is that this represents \u2013 even if not true \u2013 the idea and understanding of black Americans. That also is a falsehood.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The perpetuation of this falsehood covers up the strong faith in and support of law enforcement in the black community:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>It turns out that black men, who are less than seven percent of the American population, make up <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/datausa.io\/profile\/soc\/police-officers\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">more than 11%<\/a><\/strong> of all law enforcement in America. If I told you that less than seven percent of the population was black and more than 11% of the prison population was black, the people would immediately respond with \u201cwell, that tells a lot.\u201d I\u2019m telling you that black Americans are committed to law enforcement by putting a disproportionate percentage of black men in the role to protect Americans.<\/p>\n<p>And who are the Americans that are needing protection? All Americans benefit from a law and order circumstance, but black Americans and other minorities disproportionally participate and benefit when law and order exists or is restored.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Asked about outspoken anti-police rhetoric among liberal celebrities and elites, in the media and among politicians such as <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/04\/18\/maxine-waters-attends-protest-over-police-killing-of-daunte-wright\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Congresswoman Maxine Waters<\/a><\/strong> and the members of \u201cThe Squad,\u201d Horace condemned their words:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>Even if they don\u2019t tell you directly to confront the police, they\u2019re undermining the authenticity \u2013 the rightfulness \u2013 of the behavior of law enforcement. They undermine it, and we are seeing a wave of crime taking place\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Black Americans, brown Americans and other Americans [living in urban areas] are particularly hard hit [by the economic effects of the pandemic]. The last thing these communities need is to have law enforcement shunned in their areas that will make it nearly impossible for them to recover.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Not holding back his contempt for those who would endanger black communities, Horace concluded:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>These actions are a slur against America, America\u2019s founding on the idea that the citizen was going to decide policy.<\/p>\n<p>And we fought together, side by side, to stand up for Martin Luther King\u2019s vision that the citizen was going to be someone judged by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin. Today\u2019s progressives are asking us to do exactly the opposite of that, and it\u2019s harming us all.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>After the Chauvin verdict was delivered, justice being served to the offender was not enough.
