She said she was \u201cafraid for my life\u201d while being <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2022\/04\/11\/student-feared-for-life-after-being-chased-by-mob-targeting-allen-west\/\">chased<\/a> by radical protestors.<\/p>\n<p>Purcell and other members of her campus chapter of Young America\u2019s Foundation <a href=\"https:\/\/www.yaf.org\/news\/breaking-allen-west-escorted-from-yaf-event-by-police-irate-mob-chases-and-assaults-conservative-student\/\">hosted<\/a> a speech by former congressman and Army veteran Allen West. The topic was \u201cAmerica Is Not Racist.\u201d A mob of leftist students sought to cancel the event, leading West to use a police escort when leaving the campus after the protesters disrupted a post-speech meet-and-greet.<\/p>\n<div class=\"responsive-container\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"&#039;Woke mob&#039; storms Allen West event on college campus\" width=\"800\" height=\"450\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/WnwYsLeVeV8?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/div>\n<p>During that escort, Purcell was separated from West and the police. This is when she became a target. On the Fox News Channel program \u201cFox and Friends First,\u201d she said: \u201cI didn\u2019t think it was gonna\u2026 be controversial to say on an American campus that American values are worth protecting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Yet it was Purcell who needed to protect herself at that moment. She reported being followed \u2013 and later chased \u2013 around the campus by a crowd that \u201cwanted to capture me.\u201d That\u2019s when she sought refuge in a men\u2019s bathroom. And that\u2019s how she lost them and was spared their wrath.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"wp-image-42541 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Mike-Hill-sm.jpg\" alt=\"Mike Hill\" width=\"157\" height=\"157\" srcset=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Mike-Hill-sm.jpg 200w, https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/03\/Mike-Hill-sm-150x150.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 157px) 100vw, 157px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>This assault on free speech and threat to a young woman\u2019s safety enraged <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/project-21\/\">Project 21<\/a><\/strong> member <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/ncppr\/staff\/mike-hill\/\">Mike Hill<\/a><\/strong>. Responding to the mob\u2019s attempt to cancel freedom, he said:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>The irony of this entire situation is stunning. A group of radical black leftist students cannot tolerate a conservative black speaker talking about why America is exceptional. It was full-blown ignorance on display. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ppgbuffalo.org\/files\/documents\/data-demographics-history\/a_city_divided__a_brief_history_of_segregation_in_the_city_of_buffalo.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Compounding<\/a><\/strong> the irony was that it happened on a <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.collegesimply.com\/colleges\/new-york\/university-at-buffalo\/students\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">predominantly white<\/a><\/strong> college campus where they likely could not have attended just a little over 60 years ago because they are black!<\/p>\n<p>The radical cancel mob doesn\u2019t understand that racism cannot be systemic. It is a condition of an individual\u2019s heart when they choose to hate another person simply because they have features that identify them with a group that isn\u2019t theirs.\u00a0 And skin color really has nothing to do with anything!\u00a0 Ask the Hutus and Tutsis in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.britannica.com\/event\/Rwanda-genocide-of-1994\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Rwanda<\/a><\/strong>, or the Serbs and Croatians in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/hmh.org\/library\/research\/genocide-in-bosnia-guide\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Serbia<\/a><\/strong>!<\/p>\n<p>Racism is evil, and it is not corrected by shouting down another person with legitimate views. Racism is only corrected by a change of heart that Christianity produces.<\/p>\n<p>By the way, that\u2019s what made America exceptional \u2013 putting the doctrines of Christianity into a political system in the form of our Constitution.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>\u201cThis was no victory by these radical students,\u201d Mike pointed out, \u201cThey are left to wallow in their own self-imposed ignorance.\u201d<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>When University of Buffalo student leader Therese Purcell entered a men\u2019s bathroom on her campus, it had nothing to do with protesting gender norms.
