Lynch Race Card Tactics Rebuffed by Black Conservatives"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>With Senate liberals <a href=\"http:\/\/www.usnews.com\/news\/articles\/2015\/03\/17\/senate-democrats-block-human-trafficking-bill-over-abortion-language\">refusing to allow a vote<\/a> on legislation that would combat human trafficking because there are long-established protections against taxpayer funding of abortion included in it, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) said political shenanigans will come at a price.\u00a0 Until the filibuster of that human trafficking bill comes to an end, it will also effectively block any confirmation vote for Loretta Lynch to become the next attorney general.<\/p>\n<p>Naturally, rather than lifting the filibuster or seeking a compromise, Senate liberals instead went on the attack.\u00a0 Their weapon of choice?\u00a0 The race card, of course!<\/p>\n<p>Senator Dick Durbin (D-IL) chose to take the fact that Lynch is a black woman to claim that the procedural delay was akin to Rosa Parks in Montgomery, Alabama in 1955, and that McConnell was making Lynch <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2015\/mar\/19\/loretta-lynch-democrat-race-gender-senate-delay\">\u201csit in the back of the bus.\u201d<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Over in the U.S. House of Representatives, which has no bearing on confirmation matters other than to bluster, Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D-TX) suggested in a MSNBC interview that Lynch\u2019s race and sex are <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/us-news\/2015\/mar\/19\/loretta-lynch-democrat-race-gender-senate-delay\">\u201ca factor\u201d<\/a> in why a vote is not scheduled.<\/p>\n<p>Members of the National Center\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/P21Index.html\">Project 21<\/a> black leadership network take exception to these liberal bullying tactics.\u00a0 They see Lynch as just another nominee, not someone who deserves special treatment because of her skin color or her gender.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7814 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/cooper_sm-14.jpg\" alt=\"cooper_sm\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Speaking about the liberals\u2019 race card strategy to push her confirmation and silence dissent, Project 21 Co-Chairman <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/bios\/P21Speakers_Cooper.html\">Horace Cooper<\/a>, a former constitutional law professor at George Mason University and former leadership staffer in the U.S. House of Representatives, said:<\/p>\n<p>This is truly shameful.<\/p>\n<p>Instead of letting Loretta Lynch\u2019s nomination rise or fall on the merits, Washington liberals in the House and Senate are trying to use her race and gender as a tool to prevent any examination of her record or agenda.<\/p>\n<p>When these same so-called progressives opposed women and minorities who were conservative, such as Janice Rogers Brown for a federal judgeship, no one claimed they were bigots. \u00a0\u00a0Liberals should abide by this same standard when they nominate one of their own.<\/p>\n<p>Furthermore, instead of clouding the issue with racist charges, Loretta Lynch should be encouraged to be forthcoming on her positions on gun control, executive amnesty and perpetuating a politicized Justice Department.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-7815 alignright\" src=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/02\/emmett_sm-1.jpg\" alt=\"emmett_sm\" width=\"100\" height=\"100\" \/>Project 21 member <a href=\"https:\/\/nationalcenter.org\/bios\/P21Speakers_Emmett.html\">Shelby Emmett<\/a>, an attorney and former Capitol Hill staffer, said:<\/p>\n<p>As a black woman and an attorney, I am so sick and tired of race always being the liberals\u2019 default talking point.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Lynch went through four years of college, three years of law school and has decades of experience to put her where she is today.\u00a0 She is just as qualified as any other candidate, and thus all the scrutiny, questions, procedures and games should be fair game just like with any other nominee during the confirmation process.<\/p>\n<p>God forbid that Senator Dick Durbin should see an attorney instead of a black woman who apparently isn\u2019t on the same level as her white male peers and thus worthy of a defense based on her resume instead of her pigmentation.<\/p>\n<p>True racial harmony is holding this woman\u2019s feet to the fire \u2014 just like we would with any white, male candidate.\u00a0 She can
