MARQUITA BUSHROD

Marquita Bushrod

Project 21’s Marquita Bushrod has been in the insurance industry for over 20 years. For the past several years she has been a Product Development Manager. With her knack for generating ideas and developing new products, she has been able to translate that skill set into out-of-the-box ideas and solutions that help educate and shift the mindset of minorities. She is also the author of children’s books that focus on colorism.

Active in her community, she is state director for the Black Conservative Federation of Maryland, the vice chair of the Charles County Republican Central Committee, a member of Maryland Republican Women Empowered and the assistant state director for Maryland Blexit. In 2022, she was a candidate for State Delegate in Maryland’s 28th District. During her campaign her platform focused on maintaining our freedoms, school choice, common sense thinking and accountability for political leaders.

Originally from Nyack, New York, she later moved to Forest, Virginia where she completed high school. It was in high school that she developed an interest in politics and realized she was a conservative. She later went on to earn a bachelor’s in criminal justice and a master’s in management and leadership from Liberty University. Additionally, in 2007 she served as an intern for Republican Congresswoman Virginia Foxx.

Marquita firmly believes that access to education and opportunities is necessary to level the economic playing field for minorities and she will continue to be an advocate for such.
