Radonovich cited as an example of the problems faced by westerners the fact that a levee broke in California, killing three people. The local agency responsible for maintaining the levee had sought to repair it before the catastrophe, but their work was delayed for over six years due to federal endangered species act regulations.
A challenge faced by western Congressmen concerned about problems like this, he said, is that eastern Members of Congress, including some Republicans, cast votes on federal land policies without feeling the effects of those policies in their own districts. For example, he noted, in Connecticut, New York and New Jersey, half of one percent of all the land is owned by the federal government. By contrast, in California, 48% of the land is owned by the federal government; In Nevada, 89%; in Idaho and Arizona, over 75%.
Randonovich discussed the work of a “Western Caucus” of Congressmen set up to work on these issues and their plans to set up a non-profit educational foundation and a PAC to work with them. He also answered questions on environmental and regulatory issues. Contact Rep. Radonovich at 202/225-4540.
The American Land Sovereignty Protection Act would require congressional oversight of United Nations land designations within the borders of the United States. In other words, the Act would bar United Nations designation of any land on American soil as either United Nations “World Heritage Sites” or “Biosphere Reserves” without American public input and congressional approval.
The UN designations have frequently been used to impose new regulations on public lands – regulations formulated by international bureaucrats who are not accountable to the American public.
There are currently 20 World Heritage Sites and 47 Biosphere Reserves comprising more than 51 million acres on U.S. territory, including 68% of all U.S. National Parks, monuments and preserves. Many more World Heritage Sites are contemplated in the U.S.
“Land designations under the World Heritage and Biosphere Reserve programs have been created with virtually no congressional oversight and no congressional hearings, ” Representative Don Young has said. “The public and local governments are rarely consulted.”
Rishel distributed a list of current and proposed UN World Heritage sites in 40 U.S. states. Many are man-made, such as the Statue of Liberty, Philadelphia’s Independence Hall, Frank Lloyd Wright’s home and studio and 10 other sites in Illinois, the Brooklyn Bridge, the Bell Telephone and General Electric Research Laboratories in New York, Eads Bridge in Illinois-St. Louis, Fallingwater outside Pittsburgh, Monticello, Moundville Site in Alabama, Louisiana’s Poverty Point, Mound City Group National Monument in Ohio, Fallingwater outside Pittsburgh and the Washington Monument. Others, such as the Grand Canyon, the Everglades, Yosemite, Grand Teton National Park, Crater Lake, Yellowstone, Bryce Canyon, Smoky Mountains and the Mohave Desert, among amny others, are natural.

“If Bill Clinton is not removed from office, the rule of law will have been abandoned in America, and we will have absolute hell to pay,” said Project 21 member and Los Angeles community activist Jesse Peterson. “The rule of law is the only standard keeping this nation from a mob-rule mentatility, which will surely degenerate into anarchy once the citizenry realizes the laws are only to be imposed on them. Our President will have in effect become nothing more than a warlord, holding power via taxpayer supported legalistic ties, ‘friendly’ souless Senators, indimidation of opponents, and a complicit one-party media.”
Project 21 member and columnist Kimberly Wilson added, “We have been his shield and prop throughout his presidency. Bill Clinton has got to go. His continued presence in the White House endangers the American Rule of Law. Our parents and grandparents hoped, prayed, fought and sometimes died for equal protection under the law. If we disregard the law in favor of one man we unravel the whole fabric of law.”
