What About Theft?

The top-of-the-hour 3 pm eastern news on the ABC radio network featured a story about a cross being stolen from a church and then being found, burning, outside a girl’s window.

The story notes that the FBI has gotten involved, and the incident is being investigated as a possible arson and hate crime.

What about theft? Is our judicial system so race-conscious that it rushes in to make a federal case of local crime, all the while forgetting that stealing from a church is a crime, too?

Or did law enforcement consider the theft worthy of investigating, but the news media, not worthy of reporting?
