Project 21 member Derrick Hollie is the founder of Reaching America, an organization that addresses complex social issues impacting vulnerable populations.
One of the issues Hollie does the most work on is energy poverty, which occurs when individuals and families are unable to afford basic heating, electricity, and gas needs.
Hollie has appeared before Congress five times to give witness testimony on energy poverty and other related issues. His testimony before the House Natural Resources Committee and recommendations inspired H.R. 4266, The Energy Poverty Prevention and Accountability Act.
Hollie is also an award-winning education and outreach campaign leader for the federal government, a frequent television guest commentator and a business leader within the private and nonprofit sectors.
Most recently, Hollie served as a presidential appointee in the Trump administration as Director of the Office of Small and Disadvantaged Business Utilization within the U.S. Department of Transportation.
His work sparks significant enthusiasm across political and cultural and social backgrounds.
